Shine: A Woman of Purpose

Today’s Bible Insight is “Crossover”

Chapter 1 – The Good News

As God remembers our love toward Him, He wants us to remember His love toward us – and to teach such to our children, lest any forget or be ignorant of His mighty works and mercy. Not sharing the knowledge of God and His wonder causes many to fall short of faith. Remember when God saved you? Where were you? What was going on around you? How did you feel? God saved you so that you could be a witness. Recalling specific details about your conversion experience is part of being an effective witness. If you have not yet had that experience, it could happen today.

Seven churches received letters in the book of Revelation. The church at Philadelphia in Revelation 3:7 was a city in the interior, southeast of Sardis. You might relate it to “downtown” as opposed to being somewhere out in the country.  Philadelphia had five churches and a Christian population of about 3,000 – nearly 1/3 of the entire city was full of Christians! The church at Philadelphia was not known for its embellishments, yet the people were noted for being the most spiritual – or seemingly so. Read Revelation 3:7-8. Although the church at Philadelphia received unmixed praise, it also had room for improvement. It had a little strength (Revelation 3:8). While this was more than could be said for many others, the church at Philadelphia was yet living beneath its privilege.

Christ did not suffer and die so that we of the household of faith could have just a little strength. We must strive to grow in grace, to be strong in faith, giving glory to God. As we grow, we also gain access to the “KEY” and its power. Read Matthew 16:19.

I heard a man say in business that while he was searching for the secret of success, he found so many “keys.” One said it was communication.  One said it was money.  One said it’s not what you know, but who you know. He went to seminar after seminar, just trying to find the key to success. And no matter who he spoke to, the answer was always something different.  Can you imagine how confusing it must have been, that nobody seemed to agree on what the “key” was- and that no one was talking about which door was meant for the key?  How much time do you think he wasted, looking for the “key.”  Finally, he had so many keys, he said, “I felt just like a janitor with all these keys.”

In Christ, we know that Jesus is the door (Acts 4:12) and faith in Him is the key to salvation.

No matter what you are looking for, the door you open depends upon the key you use. Jesus is also the Master Key – because He is a door within a door. Now here’s what some people miss about this special key: I said before that the door that you open depends upon the key that you use. Now listen, since Jesus is the key to the kingdom – once you open the door of your heart with the key to the kingdom – which is Jesus, you are no longer the one opening the doors. Also, Jesus is more than a key – He is also a door. Once Jesus is on the scene he takes over all the key business.

Read Revelation 3:7. Christ can open every door, without changing keys. So what happens is – once you submit your will to Christ, He is now the doorman. Jesus is a game-changer. When all doors are closed, Jesus can open a door that no man can close. It could be a doorway to a blessing or a way of escape for you when the enemy seeks to trespass your heart into a fault. Read I Corinthians 10:13.

Have you ever seen a hotel door that connected two suites? One door opened from inside one room, and the other door opened from inside another room.  So, you could open the door from your side, but unless someone in the other suite opened their door, you still could not go through.  Jesus is a door, already open. You have to open the door to your heart, using the key of faith through Jesus Christ. When both doors are open, then, you can begin to have an exchange with the Father through Christ; an interaction that will change your life!

Read Revelation 3:20. When you come into the knowledge of Christ – no matter how young or young at heart you may be, God does not command you to go and try to maybe see if you can possibly kind of sort of maybe make some kind of little impact by having a little testimony of what God may be able to do, you think. On the contrary, He said if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me (John 12:32). God wants us to have holy boldness. This requires holy confidence. The only way we will have confidence is to exercise our faith in Him.

The only shortcoming of the church at Philadelphia – was that they had a little strength and were content therewith. God wanted them to seek an even greater anointing. We have a Savior in Christ so that we can mount up with wings of an eagle; run and not be weary; walk and not faint; because we wait upon the Lord. While we wait for Him, we walk by faith (Isaiah 40:31). Through faith, we are able to show our worthiness to receive his favor.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 KJV

Jesus said,

Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mathew 11:28

Trying to live in an evil world without God is like adding weights to an already heavy burden. But Jesus is a strong tower. He is strong and mighty. Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you (I Peter 5:7).

When you accept Christ as your Savior, He nails your sin to the cross. It dies so you can have life without sin, and the shame that was like a collar goes with it. After you receive Him, you still have to Live with Him. Each day, pray for His guidance and study the Word (Bible). Ask Him to reveal His voice to you, that you will not be distracted by unholy influences. In the next section, you will learn more about forgiveness.

Remember that the newness of Christ is a result of His sacrifice and having been risen from the dead by the power of God. When you allow Him to nail your sin to the cross by your repentance, you become raised to life with Him, because Jesus took your place so that you would not have to pay that price yourself. Receive His gift which is given to you freely.

Ask God to help you find the place where with holy leadership you can be supported in learning the ways of God; where He wants you to show your faith in Him, that you may grow up (in righteousness) according to His will. Then, trust Him for all things. And whenever the thought comes to your mind, each time it does, tell God that you love Him. He loved you first.

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

The more you love God, the more His grace will abound in your life. And I pray that you receive His redemption and that with anointing, right now. If you have never before given your life to Christ, or need to renew your vows to Him, pray with me:

Jesus, I repent of my sin. Please forgive me. I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you gave your life on the cross for my sins. I believe you rose again according to the Scriptures and that you now Live. I receive you as my living Lord and Savior. Heavenly Father, please fill me with your Holy Spirit.

If you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you are accepted into the family of Christ, having been born again into the body of believers. Just as a child, when he or she is born, must be nurtured and cared for and taught the right things, so you too are like a precious child of God. He wants you to grow and mature and prosper in His will. If you already attend a Bible-based church, please communicate with your Pastor or designated Under-Shepherd (faithful Christian teacher or ministry leader) and be active in learning how to serve God more. If you do not have a church home, I recommend Trinity Temple Church or Transformation Church.

Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

If you received Christ this day (whether you received Him “again,” or for the very first time) we rejoice with you!

The angels in heaven also rejoice when a person is saved (Luke 15:7)! …

Your Crosswalk

Caution: you are now entering the crosswalk. After you receive salvation, you have the responsibility to take up your cross and follow Christ. There is a job to do in your own life as well as in the lives of others. Your first ministry after dedication to God – though it is less publicized, is to yourself. It would be difficult to maintain a life of service to others if you never cared for yourself. While often a caregiver is overlooked in daily needs that he or she yet provides to others, in the walk of following Christ’s example, you must minister to your own heart as well as to that of others.

To take up your cross means to bear the things that you may suffer because of your decision to follow Christ. When you choose this LIFE, the enemy gets nervous. Satan desires to sift you and cause not only you but also those who would be helped by your ministry to fall by the wayside. You may be ostracized, criticized, mocked, or worse. Taking up your cross is not something to take lightly. Though God does not give you the spirit of fear that you would deny your cross to save yourself, still you should not think that all of your problems will cease when you receive Christ as your personal Savior.

It is true that Christ is the Prince of Peace. However, He stated that He has come to bring a Sword. The Lord of Hosts is a warrior. He has fought and won an epic battle – the battle for your soul. Jesus said that in this world you would have tribulation. Yet, He commanded you to “be of good cheer” because He has overcome the world.

Your cross may manifest in different ways. Your cross may not be the same situation that your friends endure. Your cross is a sign of your personal commitment to love not this world more than the author of your salvation.

If today you hear the voice of the LORD and do not harden your heart, but open yourself to HIS presence, you will be able to crossover from a life of uncertainty, to a life that is rooted and grounded in Christ, to which we know that the end shall be eternal life.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3
